See what I did there?
Faux fur has been quite the trend this past Fall/Winter season. I’m even a little (dare I say) sad that the weather is starting to warm up. It means I won’t be able to wear my newly adopted coat much longer before it’s just too hot to wear.
This whole Fall/Winter season, I was on the hunt for the perfect faux fur coat without breaking the bank. And let me tell you something.. When I have something in my mind that I’m on the hunt for, I’m very picky and will settle for nothing less than what I’ve imagined. A girl knows what she wants.
Anyway.. I stumbled upon this beauty of a coat just a month ago, and better yet, at the thrift store! I just happened to stop by the shop one day when I had time to kill before dinner and saw this one as soon as I walked in, glimmering like a beacon of hope. It’s true that you really do find what you’re looking for when you’re not actually looking for it. The best part is that it was just $20! Now if only I had found it at the beginning of the season, I would’ve loved to get a lot more use out of it. I might just have to apply the fashion over function rule and milk a few more wears out of it no matter how overheated I get. That or plan a trip to Alaska, which I’m also very Ok with.
I have to mention… It actually came with these hilarious hairy buttons that looked like someone just cut out circles from fabric and hot-glued them on. After a good laugh, I had to cut them off.
I paired the coat with a casual and contemporary matching set, something that I’ve always been a huge fan of. Whether it’s a long-sleeved top and trousers, a sporty track suit, or a cute Summer piece, I think matching sets always look well put together and are an instant classic look. I found this neat striped set from Zara, and at a great price too. I think it was about $50 CAD for the two pieces. It’s great because the material is actually really thin and light-weight so you can layer on top of it for the Spring and it’s breezy enough to wear as is for the Summer. I also love the contrast of textures between the matching set and fur of the coat.
I topped off the outfit with a wide-brimmed hat and my favourite boots from Sol Sana, I’ve seriously worn those things to death this Winter.
I hope everyone had a great long weekend. I spent mine errand running, catching up with friends, blogging, eating a delicious Turkey dinner with the family, and taking the time to give myself some much needed R&R with these adorable bunny bath bombs my mom gifted me. How did you spend yours?
